“The Avengers”

May 7, 2012

“’The Avengers’ is about all these super heroes together, standing together, and they have to work as a lineup. So there is quite a lot of balancing of color and proportion, and textures. Obviously the ‘Captain America’ film was set in the 40’s and so the luxury I felt that we were allowed [on ‘The Avengers’] was stretch fabric. So you get to evolve into what it would have been today. And to make it work in a lineup with the others. For Thor’s costume there’s more blue, it was darker in [the film] ‘Thor’ and it changes quite a lot. They’re very, very complex costumes and they take a lot of fittings and a lot of working out. It’s very challenging, very hard work but very exciting too and a great design opportunity.”
