Ceremony to Take Place on February 21, 2017

Los Angeles, CA (January 23, 2017) – The Costume Designers Guild announced today that Golden Globe® nominated actress and fashion icon Lily Collins will receive the annual LACOSTE Spotlight Award at the 19th CDGA (Costume Designers Guild Awards) on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The LACOSTE Spotlight Award honors an actor whose talent and career personify an enduring commitment to excellence, including a special awareness of the role and importance of costume design. Collins is being honored for her on-screen talent and her widely known respect and affection for the designers she’s worked with. When Collins last attended the CDGA, she wore a statement dress with an oversized bow on the back as an homage to Eiko Ishioka, her Mirror Mirror costume designer, who had passed away that year. Ishioka went on to win the award for Excellence in Fantasy Film that night.

Lily Collins is a rising star in Hollywood. She has already gained praise for her roles in numerous films such as Love, Rosie, The Mortal Instruments, Stuck in Love, The English Teacher, Mirror Mirror, Abduction, and The Blind Side. Most recently, Collins starred in the highly acclaimed film Rules Don’t Apply, directed by Warren Beatty. The role gained Lily her first Golden Globe® Award Nomination in the Best Actress Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category.

Collins recently wrapped production on the dark comedy To The Bone, directed by Marti Noxon, as well as the Bong Joon-ho directed Okja, starring opposite Jake Gyllenhaal, Tilda Swinton, and Paul Danno, which will premiere on Netflix in 2017. Currently, Collins is filming the Amazon/Sony Pictures drama series, The Last Tycoon with Kelsey Grammer and Matt Bomer. The series is based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s final unfinished novel and the pilot has already received much acclaim.

In addition to acting, Collins is a rising fashion icon and journalist. She has been writing for ELLEGIRL UK, Nickelodeon, SEVENTEEN Magazine, and CosmoGIRL! since she was 15. Collins is also set to release her first memoir, Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me, which will be published through HarperCollins on March 7, 2017. This debut collection of raw and deeply personal essays will resonate with teenagers and young women, and help inspire honest conversations.

LACOSTE has been a supporter of the CDGA for more than a decade and returns as Presenting Sponsor for the eighth consecutive year.

For the fifth year, LACOSTE will partner with the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) and their costume design students on creative collaborations. This year, six students were asked to select an iconic fairy tale character, then sketch and design a polo shirt based on that character. LACOSTE provided each student with its famous branded polo shirts, as well as piqué fabric, trims, and crocodile logos. The completed designs and their accompanying sketches will be displayed at the 19th CDGA as well as at the LACOSTE Symposium, an intimate panel discussion with award-winning Costume Designers, on February 22nd. The FIDM students will attend CDGA and the LACOSTE Symposium as guests of LACOSTE.
