History

Established in 1999 with the inaugural Costume Designers Guild Awards (CDGA), the Career Achievement Award, is a prestigious honor bestowed on a costume designer whose oeuvre is of larger cultural significance. Initially known as The Rit Color Award for Achievement in Costume Design, as well as the Bvlgari and Lacoste Career Achievement Awards in both film and television, it now stands proudly as the CDGA’s tribute to continued excellence in the art of costume design.

This award celebrates an extraordinary individual whose remarkable career in costume design has left an indelible mark on the worlds of film and television. Their ongoing work not only inspires fellow costume designers but also paves the way for the next generation of talent.
