EUC: Keep California Rolling

The Entertainment Union Coalition (EUC) is dedicated to advocating for the rights and livelihoods of entertainment workers across California. Since the launch of the Keep California Rolling campaign, our coalition has worked tirelessly to strengthen and modernize the California Film and Television Jobs Program.

Through coordinated advocacy, member mobilization, and ongoing outreach to legislators, the EUC has kept the importance of these jobs at the forefront of policy discussions. Notably, our efforts—alongside crucial support from the Governor—helped secure increased funding this year, even in the face of budgetary challenges and federal funding cuts. This progress demonstrates the collective power of our community and the ongoing need for member engagement.

TOOL KIT

HOW TO SUPPORT AND PARTICIPATE

This toolkit will help you create social media post that highlight the Keep California Rolling Campaign and supports your production. Aim for posts that celebrate your work, while also mentioning the tax credit’s impact. The guild will reshare posts on social media and on our website.

HOW TO STRUCTURE YOUR POST:

  • On-set photos
  • A short caption
  • Tags and Hashtags: @cdglocal892 @iatse #rollingcalifornia

Caption tips: Write one to three sentences about your project. Use the present tense if you’re just starting, or the past tense if you’ve finished. Highlight what makes the work exciting and how the tax credit helped make it happen.

TONE TO AIM FOR :

  • Authentic
  • Show gratitude, but keep it genuine—not too promotional. To make your post feel more real, you could quote a crew member about what this production or the tax credit means to them. A short testimonial, like someone sharing pride in their work or thanks for the opportunity, helps your message connect and shows your team’s unity.
  • Focus on your production and team

2026 EUC MEETINGS

With the 2026 California Governor’s race upon us, our EUC Board has begun meeting with Gubernatorial candidates to educate them about our industry, the jobs it creates through the incentive program, and the current challenges we face. This ongoing process is designed to lay the foundation for what it will take to sustain our industry within our state so that every gubernatorial hopeful understands the value our industry brings and the steps we will ask them to take.

The Entertainment

Union Coalition does not endorse candidates. While some individual unions and guilds do, these meetings are strictly educational and to build relationships.

Our talking points in these meetings include:

  • Increased Funding: The funding for the California Film & Television Jobs Program that Governor Newsom and the State Legislature increased in 2025 must continue to grow in order to compete on a global stage and keep jobs in California.
  • California Investment: The economic strength and vitality of California is tied to the health of the entertainment industry and the earning power of the hundreds of thousands of Californians who work in it. In the years ahead, California will be met with drastic federal funding cuts and we will need strong union jobs with good benefits and the tourism linked to our industry to bolster our economy.
  • Avoiding Complacency: Governments around the world recognize the proven economic power of the film and television industry and the tourism it brings. They are aggressively competing not only with California, but with the entire U.S., and they are succeeding. Until recently, California took for granted that “Hollywood” would always remain here. We cannot afford to slip back into that mindset -and lose any more ground. The Governor plays a critical role in setting both the tone and the agenda.
  • Challenges Ahead: Consolidation, Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies, international production and Big Tech, are some of the major issues facing our members, and protecting their jobs is our mission.

While the EUC does not endorse candidates running for Governor, we will make it clear to every gubernatorial hopeful that the 165,000 members represented by the unions and guilds in our coalition will be aware of their positions. We will continue to engage, educate and activate our members to protect and grow jobs here throughout our state.

With meetings scheduled over the next two months, we will share updates to our members and publicly to keep our industry top of mind in this Governor’s race.
