The Costume Designers Guild Local 892’s President is the chief executive officer. Their leadership establishes and ensures the Executive Director, assistants, and executives perform their duties according to IATSE International Constitution and Robert’s Rules of Order. As liaison to the Executive Board, the President establishes the proposed agenda for, and presides at all General Membership and Executive Board Meetings.

Terry Gordon: 2022—Present

Salvador Perez: 2013—2022
Perez was a CDGA and Emmy nominated costume designer, working throughout his three-term presidency which resulted in greater visibility for the art of costume design. He is recognized as a champion of the successful CDG campaign for Pay Equity and the purchase of the CDG office building. Perez has served on the Costume Designers Guild Awards [CDGA] Committee since its inception and been an advocate of members utilizing technology and social media to establish their brands and connect directly with audiences. In 2025 he was honored with the 27th CDGA’s Distinguished Service Award.

Mary Rose: 2007–2013 Rose served two terms and broadened the CDG’s visibility within the Television Academy where she served multiple terms as Governor of the Costume Design & Supervision Peer Group.

President Responsibilities

  • Is a spokesperson for the guild, with the Executive Director, and the host of all guild events.
  • Acts as a member liaison, being accessible to and connecting with members through gatherings, panels, or personal outreach
  • As liaison to members brings transparency with Guild business and assists in connection to appropriate leadership to answer questions
  • With the approval of the Executive Board, the president establishes and may dissolve all committees with reason
  • Serves as a non-voting member of all committees, except the Election Committee
  • Stays aware of ongoing Guild issues and programs, guiding and assisting as needed
  • Serve as a delegate to the District and International Conventions by virtue of the office

A strong President is a respected industry professional who leads with integrity, fairness, and clear communication. They listen to members, handle challenges with diplomacy and resilience, make thoughtful decisions under pressure, and remain focused on protecting members’ interests while guiding the guild toward a strong future.
